Middle-aged man from Sgr goes missing, family stages protest, demand whereabouts | KNO

Srinagar, July 31 (KNO): Family members of a middle-aged man from Bemina area of Srinagar who is missing since July 24 Friday staged a protest here to seek whereabouts of their missing kin. Shouting slogans “trace Ghulam Rasool and do justice with poor family” scores of family members and neighbors of the missing person according to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) appeared at Press Enclave here this afternoon and staged protest appealing police to speed up its efforts in tracing the missing person. Protesters claimed that Ghulam Rasool Wani (40) of Bemina area of Srinagar city had gone for jogging around Sharifabad HMT on July 24 but did not return home till date. They said a formal missing complaint was also lodged at Parimpora police station but the missing person is yet to be traced by the police. “We are apprehensive about the safety of our kin; don’t know whether he is alive or god forbid dead. We have gathered here to appeal to the police to expedite investigation and trace him at earliest,’’ said one of the relatives of Wani while talking to reporters. They said the police should seek help from other investigating agencies to trace the missing person from Bemina whose family members they said are in virtual shock. “Kindly help us trace our missing brother. We are worried, so are other relatives, what the police is doing, six days have already passed but there is no information about our brother. Let police seek help from other agencies if they are not able to trace him,” said the protesters. Earlier a PHD Scholar from Ibrahim Colony Bemina went missing after he went for trekking to Gangabal Lake along with his five other friends June 14 this year. Family members of missing youth said five other friends of Hilal who had accompanied him to Gangbal on the fateful day returned but their son has not returned yet—(KNO)
